“This seminar will be a turning point for your understanding of ballet training as a dancer or a teacher” –Dmitri Roudnev

Dmitri Roudnev will explain and demonstrate the following:

•A detailed analysis of the fundamentals of ballet training

•A unique way for setting arms, and why Roudnev believes this is the key to success in ballet training.

•Common mistakes students and professionals make that lead to trouble spots in adagio, turns and jumps.

•In depth explanation of causes for ballet-related injuries

•The most progressive way to develop light and high jumps on students

•Roudnev will also explain the use of the swinging movement (kinetic energy) in grande allegro. No more short achilles tendon excuses!

•Why intensive stretching before the barre is detrimental to ballet training.

Explanation on Vaganova
Roudnev will also give a full explanation of the meaning of each barre exercise and the genius in Vaganova’s Russian technique. For example Roudnev says, “One of the most interesting subjects in the history of ballet training is that Madame Vaganova did not allow her pupils to lift the legs in adagio at the barre above 90 degrees in her ballet classes. While attaining a high extension is the final goal for a dancer, there is good reason to not let students go above 90 degrees.”

“Dear Dmitri! Let me tell you a huge THANK YOU! Those little secrets of our profession that you have shared with me have brought great results. And it is not just how I feel. I am also getting many compliments by my director and dancers in the company because they see a big difference and huge progress. I warmly wish you to have many disciples ready hear you. In my case, your discoveries were the missing part I when I was on stage. I have danced for more than 20 years and I am grateful to you for how you have extended my career.”

-Olga Pavlova, Principal of the Metropolitan Classical Ballet in Texas, graduate of the  Bolshoi Ballet Academy, former soloist of the Bolshois Ballet. She holds a Masters degree in Teaching from the Moscow Academy of Professional Arts, Gold Medallist of the Plisetskaya Second International Ballet Competition.
