About the Company

 

Founded in 2000 by Cem Catbas & Elysabeth Muscat, Baltimore Ballet presents world class dancing at affordable prices to dance enthusiasts from the greater Baltimore/Washington region.  Audiences can enjoy international stars and up-and-coming, award winning dancers.  Baltimore Ballet's repertoire includes The Nutcracker, Les Sylphides, Giselle, Swan Lake, Scheherazade, La Bayadere (Kingdom of the Shades), Paquita, The Firebird, Pas de Quatre, Pictures at an Exhibition, Carnival of the Animals, and A Gershwin Rhapsody, (choreographed by Artistic Director Cem Catbas), and Salome's Daughters (choreographed by Nejla Yatkin).  The Company has performed at the Lyric Opera House for its 10 Year Anniversary Gala and as part of the Baltimore Artscape Festival, with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra at the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall (see the picture to the right), Goucher College Kraushaar Auditorium, the Morris A. Mechanic Theater, Towson University Stephens Hall, MD Hall for the Performing Arts, and the Baltimore Museum of Art Meyerhoff Auditorium, as well as outreach performances at local retirement communities.  Baltimore Ballet is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Company and does not discriminate on the basis of gender, ethnicity, religious affiliation, nationality, or sexual orientation.
